Support Local Food Production
At McNiven's Fresh Produce, all our products are grown in line with organic standards. Our mission is to provide the St. John's Metro Region with the fresh, quality produce. It is important to us that our agricultural practices support a healthy soil food web to aid biodiversity in the local environment. By fostering healthy soil biology we can further support the community with quality food. We sell our produce at the St. John's Farmers Market and to several restaurants in the downtown area from the early summer to late fall seasons.

About
Our farm is committed to sustainable soil management and environmental practices. Local food production is an important way to reduce the carbon footprint of the food that we consume. In addition healthy and well managed soils have the ability to sequester carbon from the atmosphere below ground. We incorporate a variety of techniques to improve soil including cover cropping, minimal tillage and application of organic amendments (compost and manures). We believe that heathy soil creates heathy food and leads a healthier planet.
We are a small urban farm that is run from rented land at the O'Brien Farm at 150 Oxen Pond Road, St. John's, NL. There we are part of the New Found Farmers Program which has been essential in getting a start in this industry. As we expand in coming years we hope to be able to find land of our own and further grow the operation, our offerings and our customer base.
